There is always one person you love who becomes that definition. It usually happens retrospectively, but it happens eventually. This is the person who unknowingly sets the template for what you will always love about other people, even if some of these lovable qualities are self-destructive and unreasonable. The person who defines your understanding of love is not inherently different than anyone else; they're often just the person you happen to meet the first time you really, really want to love someone. But that person still wins. They win, and you lose, Because for the rest of your life, they... Read more »

I like beginnings because they’re so full of promise. The first page of a book, the first day of a job, the first time you buy yourself flowers, the first date with a new man, the first touch, the first kiss, the first kick of a good liquor, the first moment you hold your own baby. I like beginnings because I know there’s always more to come.
1 Treat each other occasionally as though you were meeting for the first time 2 Don't call each other Mother and Father, and stay away from the couples who do - unless they're 80. 3 Never sleep on a problem without a solution or some agreement. 4 Have a big family Bible; read together from it and always go to church every sunday together 5 Take up a daring sport that you can do together - like mountain climbing, water-skiing, and sky-diving. "kung kaya lang ha!!!" 6 When one of you puts the first dent in the new car, laugh... Read more »
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has confessed that until recently, he thought the 16-year-old fellow tween idol [Justin Bieber] was a female. 'I only heard Justin Bieber for the first time two weeks ago. I genuinely thought it was a woman singing. I'd never heard it before. Is it big in England yet?'
Let's just say that where a change was required, I adjusted. In every relationship that exists, people have to seek a way to survive. If you really care about the person, you do what's necessary, or that's the end. For the first time, I found that I really could change, and the qualities I most admired in myself I gave up. I stopped being loud and bossy... Oh, all right. I was still loud and bossy, but only behind his back.
The first time I went over to [my director's] house, he said to me, This is a very strange play. I was pleased that he reminded me of that. [He] understands the play [VENUS] intellectually and emotionally and the humor, the funny bone.
With repeated listenings, a piece eventually becomes its own being. I very often say to students that this is like meeting a person for the first time. When you first meet someone, you reference that person with others who are similar; but, as you get to know that person better, you begin to understand his unique qualities.
Guys don't adapt as well as women do to getting their heart broken for the first time. It's tragic. I really wanted to be in love, get married, have kids and buy a wood-paneled station wagon for the family. But it didn't work out, and, boy, it wrecked it!
