I think life should be about touching the lives of people around us. Making a difference. Accepting people for who they are, going out of our way to help others, and loving with all that we’ve got. Sometimes all it takes is one simple gesture, and we can put a smile on someone’s face and make them feel less alone. That is what we should live for, because when we’re gone from this world, we can’t take anything with us. All that’s left are the people whose lives you touched, and the difference you’ve made while you were here. So... Read more »
I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his horse to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs. The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my horse. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind.
"This Is Beautiful! Try Not to Cry" Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: “How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?” The surgeon said, “I’m sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn’t make it.” Sally said, “Why do little children get cancer? Doesn’t God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?” The surgeon asked, “Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out in... Read more »
My mom only had one eye. So I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEEk, your mom only has one eye!” I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and... Read more »
I really want to tell you... not to let go. not to be stupid. not to give up on us. That it’s going to be your loss. It won’t be easy. That it’s worth the fight. That I’m always going to be there. That I think you are the one for me. That I’ve never met anyone like you before and how much you mean to me.
Dear mom, Like every normal girl, I was excited about marriage right from my childhood days. I never thought beyond the time that I would spend happily with my prince charming. But today when I am married, I realize that marriage is not all roses. It’s not just about being with your beloved and having a gala time. There is so much more to it. It comes with its own share of responsibilities, duties, sacrifices and compromises. I can’t wake up anytime I want to. I am expected to be up and ready before everyone else in the family. I... The word ‘Normal’ has become, like, a cringing word to me. Because, who wants to be normal? Normal is something millions of people do every single day. To be abnormal, to me, is what’s a lot more fun. And I think the individualism of that is what life’s all about... I’m very abnormal, and I love it.
