The sad truth is, there are some people who will only be there for you as long as you have something they need. When you no longer serve a purpose to them, they will leave. The good news is, if you tough it out, with time and experience, you’ll eventually weed these people out of your life and be left with some great friends you can always count on. Those are your "true" friends!

The Lesson from an Old Mule. A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. There was an old mule which fell into the farmer’s well.
